Lotus Notes/Domino Architect...
I have 6 years of hands-on experience as both a Lotus Notes/Domino Application Developer and System Administrator, from R4.5 to 6.

Application Developer:
Assisted the clients below through short-term projects utilizing skills in @formula, LotusScript (front & back end), Perl, Java, JavaScript, DHTML, XML (DXL).

  • IBM (as employee):  Designed and implemented a briefing scheduling database system which enabled collaboration between a 20 person department and 2000 field reps, affecting a 50% increase in productivity and allowing 24 hour online access to current data.

  • IBM (as contractor):  Hired back to make updates to briefing scheduling system developed during regular employment at IBM (see above).  Gathered new user requirements, integrated changes.

  • Infinity Systems:  Migrated apps from R4.6 to R6, tightening security.  Designed customized reporting mechanisms enabling project managers to track both consumed and remaining hours on a project.

  • American Credit Card Processing Corp:  Produced a number crunching automation system that imports financial data provided by bank (on 3000+ merchants), reducing a 2 person, 2 week operation to just under 4 min.  Solved 64KB data lookup limit, devising solution that allows for unlimited growth.  Added reporting mechanisms for merchant and sales data.

System Administrator:
Migrated multi-database Notes/Domino environments from R4.6 to 6.

  • Planned and deployed Domino 6 network for enterprise messaging and collaboration.

  • Installed and configured Domino Server 6 on test and production servers; Administrator 6 and Designer 6 on separate production client.  Migrated 4.6 apps and tested functionality.  Updated design templates to utilize new security features and account for user name changes.  Tested!  Tested!  Tested!

  • Identified and solved issues pertaining to name and address book migration:  Registered Notes and web users on new server utilizing policies and text input file to speed implementation.  Handled name changes through AdminP.  Wrote and executed agents to modify existing documents in application databases to reflect new user name spellings.  Surgically integrated custom design elements from Public Address Book 4.6 into Domino Directory 6.

  • Refined Access Control Lists under ND6:  Replaced hardcoded user names with groups and roles.  Created new groups via Administrator and added members.  Modified application design to utilize groups and roles, simplifying maintenance.

  • Established certifier IDs for organization and organization units.  Tracked certification changes in log database.

  • Configured Domino web server:  Specified port settings.  Created aliases to simplify the URLs users need to type.  Stopped and restarted HTTP task.

  • Specified Domino server settings:  Sharpened security by defining degrees of administrative accesses.  Activated logging.

  • Produced connection documents for server-to-server access, location documents for user to server.

  • Planned and implemented replication topology.

  • Automated administrative tasks exploiting new ND6 functionality.

  • Experimented with LDAP for sharing address books across heterogeneous architectures.
